Mỗi ngày có khoảng 5,000 tấn rác thải ra môi trường ở các thành phố lớn ở Việt Nam và lên đến 90% trong số đó không được tái chế mà đi thẳng đến các bãi chôn lấp. Nhiều nỗ lực giảm lượng rác thải đã được thực hiện để thúc đẩy thói quen tái chế của người dân, tuy nhiên, hầu như không có bất kỳ thay đổi thực sự vì mọi người đã không nhìn thấy lợi ích trực tiếp từ việc tái chế. Ngoài ra, thế hệ trẻ không chỉ bị ảnh hưởng bởi thói quen này mà còn bị hạn chế trong tiếp cận với giáo dục môi trường.Để tiết kiệm hơn cũng như giúp bảo vệ môi trường chúng ta nên kết hợp giữa việc thu gôm rác và tái chế sử dụng rác. tổ chức các hoạt động tình nguyện tham gia thu gom rác thải trong khu vực, phân lọai rác giúp việc xử lí thêm dễ dàng thuận tiện.
đối với các loại rác có thể tái sử dụng như túi nilong ta có thể rửa sạch và sử dụng lại nhiều lần, ly nhựa, chai nhựa có thể làm chậu trồng cây, dùng lá cây để làm phân bón hữu cơ vừa làm sạch môi trường...
đối với các loại rác không thể tái sử dụng thì ta sẽ đợi xe rác đến thu gom và xử lí.
cách làm này vừa làm sạch mội trường vừa tiết kiệm chi phí lại có hiệu quả cao.
