hực hiện chiến lược mở rộng ngành nghề, đầu tư ra nước ngoài, từ năm 2007 Tập đoàn đã tiến hành nghiên cứu, đánh giá cung cầu thị trường, tiềm năng và hiệu quả của việc khai thác cây cao su thiên nhiên; tiến hành khảo sát, tìm kiếm quỹ đất có điều kiện tự nhiên, thổ nhưỡng phù hợp với việc trồng và khai thác cây cao su tại thị trường Campuchia.

Sau hơn 5 năm theo đuổi dự án, đến đầu 2013 Gemadept đã được chính phủ Hoàng gia Campuchia cấp đất tô nhượng kinh tế tại địa bàn xã Royor, huyện Kohgnek, tỉnh Mondulkiri. Gemadept là một trong số rất ít doanh nghiệp nước ngoài được cấp một diện tích đất lớn, liền thửa, tại địa bàn khá thuận lợi có đường quốc lộ 78 chạy qua.

Kể từ ngày trồng cây cao su đầu tiên 4/7/2011, đến nay dự án đã triển khai được gần 4 năm với những kết quả tích cực : cây cao su sinh trưởng tốt đạt tiêu chuẩn về chu vi và chiều cao; hạ tầng giao thông, đường, cầu; các khu dân cư mới gồm các dãy nhà cao ráo, được cung cấp điện, nuớc đã được hoàn thành đồng bộ; công tác môi trường và xã hội đã được triển khai theo tư vấn của các tổ chức quốc tế…

Truớc tình hình Chính phủ Campuchia ngưng cấp đất cho các công ty nuớc ngoài, Gemadept đã chủ động hoàn thành các thủ tục pháp lý quan trọng và đã nhận được “sổ đỏ” - Giấy chứng nhận quyền sử dụng đất. Cho tới nay Gemadept là một trong số rất ít các công ty Việt Nam và cả các doanh nghiệp đầu tư nuớc ngoài tại Campuchia được cấp giấy này.
