Theo số liệu thống kê của Tổng cục Hải quan, kim ngạch xuất khẩu hàng dệt may trong 11 tháng năm 2013 đạt 16,24 tỷ USD, tăng 18,2% so với cùng kỳ năm 2012. Bộ Công Thương dự kiến xuất khẩu dệt may trong cả năm 2013 sẽ đạt 17,89 tỷ USD, tăng 18,6% so với năm trước
Tính trong 11 tháng năm 2013, có 4 thị trường xuất khẩu dệt may của Việt Nam đạt kim ngạch trên 1 tỷ USD và đều đạt mức tăng trưởng cao trên 2 con số là Hoa Kỳ - thị trường xuất khẩu dệt may lớn nhất của Việt Nam, kim ngạch xuất khẩu đạt 7,78 tỷ USD, tăng 14,2%, chiếm 47,9% tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu của ngành; kim ngạch xuất khẩu sang EU đạt 2,4 tỷ USD, tăng khoảng 9% so với cùng kỳ năm trước; Nhật Bản đạt 2,18 tỷ USD, tăng 21,5% và Hàn Quốc là 1,5 tỷ USD, tăng 51,8%. Theo thông tin từ Hiệp hội dệt may Việt Nam, ngành dệt may Việt Nam luôn đi đầu trong kim ngạch xuất khẩu và duy trì tốc độ tăng trưởng 15-17%/năm. Riêng Tập đoàn Dệt may Việt Nam, năm 2013 đạt kim ngạch xuất khẩu đạt 2,95 tỷ USD, tăng 14% so với năm 2012. Nhiều đơn vị trong tập đoàn có mức tăng trưởng cao như May 10, Việt Tiến, Nhà Bè, Hòa Thọ, TNG, Việt Thắng, Phong Phú... Hiện nay, một số doanh nghiệp trong ngành dệt may đã xây dựng lộ trình cũng như phương án sản xuất theo hướng FOB, ODM và chuẩn bị cho việc tham gia Hiệp định TPP thông qua việc từng bước đổi mới công nghệ hiện đại và nâng cao hiệu quả quản trị, đặc biệt trong các lĩnh vực như dệt, nhuộm, hoàn tất và thiết kế.
