Canelo Alvarez will defend his WBC and Ring Magazine middleweight championship this evening against Amir Khan, and SB Nation will be here with live round-by-round updates for the main event fight at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo-Khan will air on HBO pay-per-view tonight, with three undercard fights starting the broadcast a 9 p.m. ET. The main event should be expected to be in the ring no earlier than 11 p.m. ET, and no later than midnight.

Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KO) is the healthy favorite in the fight, as Khan (31-3, 19 KO) is coming up in weight and there are concerns about his ability to take punches from the naturally bigger and stronger man.

But Khan does have a significant hand speed advantage, even though he's a former Olympic silver medalist who has been a contender or champion in three weight classes already as a professional, from lightweight to welterweight.

The fight is certainly not expected to be dull, however it plays out, and there have definitely been bigger upsets than this one would be. So, join us this evening for what could be a significant night of boxing.

The new pay-per-view star Canelo Alvarez returns to action against a talented underdog in Amir Khan, who could make for quite a story if he can pull off the win.
