1. Khái quát về tầm quan trọng của hoạt động khởi động vào bài:
- Để đem lại sự hứng thú trong học tập cho học sinh thì mỗi người giáo viên phải luôn tìm tòi, sáng tạo trong từng hoạt động dạy hoc, trong đó hoạt động khởi động vào bài ( warm-up activities) là hoạt động chiếm một phần rất quan trọng trong thành công của một tiết dạy. Hoạt động khởi động vào bài giúp khích lệ, duy trì sự hứng thú học tập, đam mê của học sinh với môn học Tiếng Anh, giúp giáo viên tạo ra những ngữ cảnh mới từ đó có cơ sở để dẫn dắt vào bài học. Ngoài ra, hoạt động này còn giúp học sinh giao lưu, ổn định lớp học, ôn lại kiến thức cũ và củng cố kĩ năng trong việc học ngoại ngữ. Các hình thức và thủ thuật khởi động vào bài có thể đáp ứng được nhu cầu và hứng thú cho học sinh trong việc chuyển tiếp sang nội dung bài mới . Mặt khác, hoạt động này có thể tạo hưng phấn thoải mái ở mỗi tiết học tránh sự nhàm chán, khô khan, tạo sự động não, kiểm tra, ôn lại được bài cũ đồng thời giúp học sinh chuẩn bị được tâm lý và kiến thức cần thiết để sẵn sàng cho bài học mới.
Giáo viên có thể bắt đầu bằng một hoạt động nêu vấn đề và giải quyết vấn đề ( problem-solving), hoặc khai thác vốn kiến thức có sẵn của học sinh về một nội dung có liên quan đến bài cũ và bài mới (brainstorming) để gây được sự hứng thú của học sinh đối với bài học. Hay bằng cách dùng các hình thức như nghe bài hát, quan sát tranh, giải câu đố, trò chơi động não hay các bài tập vận động nhẹ, làm bài tập từ vựng… giáo viên sẽ tạo cho học sinh tâm thế phấn chấn và sẵn sàng cho một tiết học đầy thú vị.
