Tại đại hội cổ đông thường niên 2015, Hội đồng quản trị Ngân hàng Đông Á đã trình xin ý kiến cổ đông về việc Tập đoàn Kinh Đô (KIDO) tham gia rót vốn vào ngân hàng và tăng vốn điều lệ lên 10.000 tỷ đồng. Trong kế hoạch tăng vốn này, mới đây lãnh đạo Ngân hàng Đông Á cũng cho biết có dự định bán vốn cho nhà đầu tư nước ngoài với tỷ lệ tới 49% và hỗ trợ tài chính để nhà băng xử lý nợ xấu.
