Còn theo số liệu tháng 11/2013 của Ủy ban Châu Âu, khoảng 94% loài chim ở Biển Bắc có nilon trong dạ dày. Người Nam Phi thì gọi đùa túi nilon là quốc hoa. Và có ít nhất 16 quốc gia châu Phi có lệnh cấm sử dụng túi nilon
