Ban quản lý Vịnh Hạ Long thường xuyên tổ chức các chương trình, hoạt động thu gom rác thải bảo vệ môi trường sinh thái, đồng thời tham mưu cho UBND tỉnh về việc triển khai dự án “Thiết lập hệ thống thu gom, vận chuyển rác thải trên Vịnh Hạ Long về bờ xử lý sử dụng nhiên liệu sinh học và xây dựng mô hình giáo dục môi trường, nâng cao nhận thức cộng đồng bảo vệ di sản thiên nhiên thế giới Vịnh Hạ Long”; xây dựng kế hoạch ứng phó sự cố tràn dầu trên Vịnh…Các phương án được thực hiện cho vùng lõi và vùng đệm của Vịnh Hạ Long.
