Các chính sách và cơ chế ưu đãi của Chính phủ Việt Nam dành cho lĩnh vực điện gió được thể hiện qua các chính sách pháp lý rõ ràng hơn trong thời gian gần đây. Tháng 7 năm 2011, Thủ tướng Chính phủ đã ban hành Quyết định 1208/2011/QĐ-TTg về phê duyệt Quy hoạch Phát triển Điện lực Quốc gia giai đoạn 2011-2020 và có xét đến năm 2030. Trong đó thể hiện mục tiêu của Chính phủ Việt Nam là ưu tiên phát triển nguồn năng lượng tái tạo mà đặc biệt là năng lượng gió. Cụ thể, đưa tổng công suất nguồn điện gió từ mức không đáng kể hiện nay (khoảng 52 MW) lên khoảng
1.000 MW (chiếm khoảng 0,7% của tổng điện năng sản xuất) vào năm 2020, khoảng
6.200 MW (chiếm khoảng 2,4%) vào năm 2030.

Can realize the potential of wind energy in Vietnam is very large and the energy industry have high development prospects.THE MECHANISM OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF WIND POWER IN VIETNAMThe incentive mechanism and policy of the Government of Vietnam for the field of wind power is demonstrated through the legal policy more apparent in recent times. In July 2011, the Prime Minister issued Decision 1229/2009/QD-TTg on the approval of the development plan to the national electricity 2011-2020 period and are considering to 2030. That the goal of the Government of Vietnam is the priority of developing renewable energy sources that especially wind energy. Specifically, bringing the total capacity of wind power from negligible levels today (about 52 MW) up to about1,000 MW (0.7% of total electricity production) in 2020, about6,200 MW (2.4%) in 2030.
