Trong quá trình kiểm toán quyết toán ngân sách nhà nước, kiểm toán nhà nước đã ngày càng chú trọng thực hiện kiểm toán các khoản nợ công, làm việc với các cơ quan quản lý nợ của Bộ Tài chính để nắm bắt được tình hình quản lý nợ công hàng năm.

Nội dung kiểm toán của một cuộc kiểm toán tài chính là các thông tin tài chính , kết quả hoạt động sản xuất kinh doanh, tình hình tài chính, hoạt động tài chính, dòng tiền và các thuyết minh hay các yếu tố khác đã được phản ánh, đo lường và trình bày trong các báo cáo tài chính.

Các dự báo đều cho thấy trong giai đoạn 2016- 2020, mức tăng trưởng kinh tế bình quân hàng năm của Việt Nam khó có khả năng vượt mức 6% do động lực tăng trưởng không có nhiều cải thiện.
