Today (29/10), Oxfam initiated support activities for people in 12 villages worst affected by two recent floods in Ha Tinh.
CongThuong - In today and tomorrow, Oxfam will allocate approximately $ 180,000 to hand for 3,000 households (approximately 12,000 people), prioritizing vulnerable groups, pregnant women and nursing children under 2 years, female heads of households. Oxfam determined that cash grants based on international guidelines prescribed Sphere minimum standards of nutritional needs in emergency aid, per person per day in a month's time. The households most affected can use this money to buy food supplements for the government-grade rice and shopping necessities most needed immediately after the flood. This is the first activity under the project 3-month emergency relief Oxfam in two districts of Huong Khe and Vu Quang and Ha Tinh province. This 3 month project has a total budget of $ 350,000, and will support approximately 40,000 people through activities like the allocation of cash and hygiene items, the activities to strengthen sanitary and similar allocations. This grant will contribute to the joint efforts of the governments and people of both countries to support the people affected by two severe floods in central past. This activity will help to mitigate the damage to people and property caused by natural disasters. In collaboration with partners, programs of Oxfam humanitarian support Vietnam government and community capacity to prevent and overcome the negative consequences of the disaster.
