Năm 2005 Công ty Cấp thoát nước và Công trình đô thị tỉnh Cà Mau đã chế tạo thành công thiết bị vớt rác trên sông. Thiết bị có công suất thiết kế 1.600 m2/giờ, vớt khoảng 70%- 80% lượng rác trên sông, rạch và có thể hoạt động liên tục mỗi ngày. Điểm nổi bật của tàu là không chỉ vớt rác trôi nổi trên mặt nước mà còn thu gom được lượng rác chìm dưới lòng sông. Thiết bị này có ưu điểm là nhỏ gọn dễ vận chuyển bằng xe moóc, nhưng trữ lượng rác nhỏ, sử dụng chân vịt để đẩy nên khả năng cơ động không cao .
