CG có bờ biển dài 13km từ mũi CG đến mũi ĐT. Mũi CG cách mũi NP VT 10km đường biển băng qua vịnh GR. Từ bờ biển nhìn ra là một bãi triều rộng hàng cây số khi triều thấp với khoảng cách từ bờ trên 4km ở phía mũi CG và trên 1km ở phía mũi ĐT. Nhìn chung, toàn bãi CG là một bãi bồi rộng trên 100km2. Cũng cần phải nói thêm rằng, bãi CG là đoạn bờ biển phía Đông cuối cùng của dải bờ biển Việt Nam ( tính từ Bắc vào Nam) có khả năng cải tạo phục vụ du lịch , tắm biển. Đi xa hơn xuống phía Nam, bờ biển bị sình lầy khống chế và ít có giá trị phục vụ du lịch- nghỉ ngơi giải trí. Với tiềm năng và lợi thế sẵn có, trong những năm qua, huyện CG đã đẩy nhanh tốc độ phát triển một số lĩnh vực kinh tế then chốt như: nuôi trồng và đánh bắt thủy hải sản, sản xuất muối, thu hút du lịch, nông nghiệp và một số dịch vụ nhằm đưa dân chúng thoát ra khỏi sự nghèo đói và từng bước đuổi kịp các quận huyện khác của thành phố.
