Vị trí cột đo gió được lắp đặt tại địa phận ấp 8, xã Thạnh Hải - huyện Thạnh Phú
- tỉnh Bến Tre (sau đây gọi tắt là trạm đo Thạnh Phú), cách trung tâm thành phố Bến Tre khoảng 55km về hướng Đông Nam. Toạ độ địa lý của trạm đo: 09049’53,2’’ N; 106039’12’’E. Hiện trạng sử dụng đất khu vực trạm đo là đất nông nghiệp trồng dưa của người dân địa phương.
Trạm đo Thạnh Phú đặt tại vùng ven biển, phía Bắc là vùng cửa sông Hàm Luông, phía Nam là vùng cửa sông Cổ Chiên, phía Tây là đồng bằng rộng lớn ăn sâu về phía Tây, phía Đông giáp biển Đông (cách biển khoảng 500m). Hình thái đường bờ biển khu vực trạm đo theo hướng Đông Bắc – Tây Nam. Địa hình khu vực thấp và bằng phẳng, cao độ địa hình khu vực khoảng 0-1m so với mặt biển. Với điều kiện tự nhiên trên, ảnh hưởng của địa hình đến tốc độ gió và hướng gió tự nhiên không lớn.
