Các SV tự giải thích giảng đồ theo các đường cân bằng, chú ý khu vực màu xám là khu vực supercritical.
Điểm ba (triple point) trên giản đồ pha là điểm giao nhau của các đường cong biến đổi trang thái của CO2. Tại đó tồn tại đồng thời ba thể rắn, lỏng, khí.
CO2 siêu tới hạn (CO2 super critical) là chất lỏng tồn tại ở điều kiện bằng hay cao hơn nhiệt độ tới hạn và áp suất tới hạn.
CO2 siêu tới hạn thường được dùng làm dung môi trích ly các hợp chất hữu cơ cần độ tinh khiết cao và dung môi được loại bỏ dễ dàng sau quá trình trích ly.
