-Liên minh Hợp tác xã tỉnh Lào Cai là tổ chức xã hội của các hợp tác xã, liên hiệp hợp tác xã, các tổ hợp tác, các doanh nghiệp nhỏ và vừa, các hiệp hội ngành nghề; Thành viên của Liên minh Hợp tác xã tỉnh Lào Cai: gồm có 290 hợp tác xã, 100 doanh nghiệp nhỏ, 02 hiệp hội ngành nghề và một số tổ hợp tác với tổng số lao động là 13.200 người.
- Chức năng nhiệm vụ chủ yếu của Liên minh Hợp tác xã tỉnh Lào Cai là đại diện và bảo vệ quyền lợi hợp pháp của các thành viên; tham gia xây dựng, hướng dẫn và tổ chức thực hiện chính sách, pháp luật; thực hiện các nhiệm vụ hỗ trợ phát triển thành viên về pháp lý, kinh tế, tài chính, khoa học kỹ thuật và đào tạo bồi dưỡng nguồn nhân lực;
Trong vai trò là tổ chức đại diện đầu mối của các thành phần kinh tế, Liên minh Hợp tác xã tỉnh Lào Cai có đại diện tham gia vào cơ quan dân cử, Mặt trận Tổ quốc Việt Nam và các Ban Chỉ đạo cấp tỉnh có liên quan đến các lĩnh vực phát triển kinh-xã hội. Đó là điều kiện thuận lợi để tập hợp người dân và người lao động trong các thành phần kinh tế tham gia vào quá trình Quản trị và Phát triển tại địa phương.
- Liên minh Hợp tác xã tỉnh Lào Cai có tư cách pháp nhân, có con dấu riêng và có trụ sở chính tại tầng 6, khối 6, Đại lộ Trần Hưng Đạo, phường Bắc Cường, thành phố Lào Cai, tỉnh Lào Cai.
Ngoài việc thực hiện chức năng nhiệm vụ theo Điều lệ, Liên minh Hợp tác xã tỉnh Lào Cai còn chủ động tham gia xây dựng, thực hiện và tham gia phối hợp với các tổ chức xã hội khác thực hiện các dự án NGO dưới sự tài trợ của các tổ chức GTZ, WB, DED, Paraff, ONIDO, SPARK, …Và kết quả triển khai các dự án đều được đánh giá cao.
