Phương pháp này sử dụng máy phát điện cảm ứng nguồn kép rotor dây quấn (Doubly fed induction machine). Việc điều chỉnh được thực hiện thông qua việc điều chỉnh dòng điện trong rotor khi dây quấn rotor được nối gián tiếp với lưới thông qua bộ lọc và các bộ chuyển đổi. Khi đó máy phát có thể nhận hoặc phát công suất phản kháng, nghĩa là máy có thể tham gia ổn định hệ thống và cho phép hỗ trợ lưới điện trong suốt quá trình dao động điện áp lưới. Bộ biến tần (converter) cũng được sử dụng để ổn định tần số ở đầu ra.
