ĐBSCL có vị trí liền kề với vùng Đông Nam Bộ của Việt Nam, phía Bắc giáp Campuchia, phía Tây Nam là vinh Thái Lan, phía Đông Nam là Biển Đông. Vị trí này đặc biệt thuận lợi trong hoạt động giao lưu quốc tế.
