Welcome to MBA 5401, Management Information Systems. My name is Dr. Bob Goldwasser, and I will be your instructor for the next 8 weeks. You’ll find my bio under "Professor Profile" in the left navigation bar.

Please feel free to call me Dr. Bob. Our first week will focus on getting to know each other so please be sure to introduce yourself to the class. The better that we get to know each other, the more that we will enjoy learning together.

In this class, we will be learning about the theory and practice of management information systems, and we will be analyzing the impact of technology on an organization.

Be sure to review and print the Syllabus which explains assignments for this class. If you have any questions on course requirements or concepts, please ask me in the “Ask the Professor” forum. If your questions are personal or private, please feel free to send me an email.

Here are a few important things that will make me, as your instructor, very happy:

* Post early and often on the Message Board Discussion areas. This is the only means for us to get to know each other and to communicate on these topics, so I'd like you to participate early and to respond to your classmates’ postings each week.

* Spell- and grammar-check everything and read it twice before sending. It may seem petty, but I am convinced that exceptional people take the time to make sure their communications are clear and trouble-free.

* Plan your work and work your plan. If you plan your work and something unexpected happens PRIOR to the deadline, contact me immediately to work out a solution. Telling me about problems after the deadline is reactive in nature, not proactive, and will gain you empathetic comments but no points.

* Have fun; learning is not meant to be drudgery. This class can be a lot of fun so long as everyone all holds up their end by being ready to participate and willing to learn.
