Tuy mới chỉ xuất hiện trong truyền thuyết nhưng đến năm 2004, các nhà khảo cổ Anh đã tìm thấy tại khu phế tích của một đơn vị quân đội La Mã ở Brougham, Cumbria những mảnh xương còn sót lại của 2 con ngựa và 2 nữ kỵ binh.

Những mảnh xương này được xác định là có từ thế kỷ III. Đây được coi là bằng chứng chứng minh những nữ binh Amazon thực sự tồn tại trong lịch sử.
