Kết quả điều tra tổng thể năm 2006 – 2007 cho thấy, lượng chất thải rắn sinh hoạt đô thị phát sinh chủ yếu tập trung ở 2 đô thị đặc biệt là Hà Nội và TP. Hồ Chí Minh. Tuy chỉ có 2 đô thị nhưng tổng lượng chất thải rắn sinh hoạt phát sinh tới 8.000 tấn/ngày (2.920.000 tấn/năm) chiếm 45,24% tổng lượng chất thải rắn sinh hoạt phát sinh từ tất cả các đô thị (hình 1 và bảng 1).

The overall survey results 2006-2007 shows, the amount of urban solid waste arises mainly focused in 2 municipalities particularly in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. However, only 2 of the town but the total amount of waste generated solid to 8000 tons/day (2,920,000 tons/year) make up 45.24% of solid waste arising from all of the municipality (Figure 1 and table 1).
