Nền văn hóa của dân tộc Việt Nam ta từ lâu đời đã mang tính thực vật và sông nước. Đặc trưng đó được thể hiện trong các mặt của đời sống con người như ăn, ở, mặc, đi lại…Về mặt ẩm thực, ta có thấy các món ăn truyền thống của dân tộc đều gắn với các loài thực vật, thủy sản như: cá kho, lẩu, tép kho, cá chiên...nhưng một món ăn đặc trưng của dân tộc ta từ xa xưa, ngày nay tính thực vật và sông nước vẫn được thể hiện rõ ràng đó chính là món canh chua cá lóc.
Tôi rất thích món ăn canh chua cá lóc bởi nó có những đặc điểm sau: canh chua cá lóc là một món ăn vốn đã rất quen thuộc với người dân Việt Nam, đặc biệt là ở vùng miền tây Nam Bộ, món canh ngon tuyệt này có thể giúp xua tan đi mọi mệt mỏi trong những ngày hè nắng nóng và đem đến cảm giác ấm lòng vào những ngày mùa đông lạnh giá. Gọi là canh chua nhưng ngoài vị chua đặc trưng ra, món canh này có cả vị ngọt đậm đà nữa. Có rất nhiều cách để nấu được món canh chua cá lóc tuyệt ngon chỉ cần chuẩn bị đủ nguyên liệu để món canh này ngon đúng vị của nó.
