Bệnh viện Đa khoa tỉnh là bệnh viện hạng I trực thuộc Sở Y tế tỉnh Kiên Giang, là tuyến điều trị cao nhất trong hệ thống chăm sức khỏe nhân dân, với 7 chức năng nhiệm vụ là: cấp cứu khám bệnh, chữa bệnh; uấn luyện và đào tạo; chỉ đạo tuyến dưới về chuyên môn kỹ thuật; nghiên cứu khoa học về y học; hợp tác quốc tế; phòng bệnh; quản lý kinh tế về y tế. Bệnh viện hiện có 8 phòng chức năng, 26 khoa lâm sàng, 8 khoa cận lâm sàng, với qui mô 1.350 giường bệnh và 2.085 viên chức.
Năm 2014, tổng số khám bệnh: 500.270 lượt; tổng số bệnh nhân điều trị nội trú: 68.272 lượt. Tỉ lệ bệnh khỏi, giảm trên 85% và tỉ lệ chuyển tuyến trên trên 10%. Tỉ lệ bệnh nhân đến khám và điều trị tăng trung bình hàng năm khoảng 5%; số lượng người nghèo đến điều trị chiếm 1/3 lượng bệnh nhân.
Hiện nay bệnh viện luôn quá tải, cơ sở hạ tầng cũ, chật hẹp, trang thiết bị chưa đồng bộ, vì vậy rất cần sự quan tâm, viện trợ trang thiết bị, nhằm giải quyết nhu cầu chăm sóc sức khỏe cho nhân dân trong tỉnh, đồng thời giúp bệnh viện đào tạo đội ngũ cán bộ viên chức làm công tác chuyên môn

2. Thông tin về khoa lọc thận:
Số bác sỹ hiện có 09 bác sỹ, trong đó có 01 bác sỹ chuyên khoa II, 05 bác sỹ chuyên khoa I và 01 đang học chuyên khoa I. Số điều dưỡng và hộ lý 45 người.
Số bệnh nhân đang lọc thận hiện tại khoảng 240 bệnh nhân, hàng năm tăng khoảng 15 đến 20 bệnh. Số bệnh nhân làm thẩm phân phúc mạc khoảng 30 cas, tăng hàng năm khoảng 10 cas. Số lượng bệnh thận mạn giai đoạn 2-5 đang quản lý khoảng 120 bệnh nhân, hàng năm tăng khoảng 10 – 20 bệnh.
Trang thiết bị hiện có:
- Gồm 25 máy thận đã sử dung, trong đó có 15 máy sử dụng trên 8 năm, còn lại khoảng 04 năm, gồm hai dòng máy là Dialog và Fresenius. Máy nước RO công suất 30 máy sử dụng trên 5 năm.
- Máy rữa quả lọc Renatron 03 cái.
- Máy diapact 01 cái dùng cho siêu lọc liên tục.
Hiện nay số lượng máy thận nhân tạo không đáp ứng được nhu cầu và hay hỏng do quá công suất máy và đã sử dụng nhiều năm. Ngoài ra số lượng máy HDF online thiếu, cần tăng cường. Máy nước RO củ và cần tăng công suất để sử dụng, quả lọc tinh tạo ra nước tinh khiết cho lọc thận. Hế thống rữa quả lọc thiếu.

II. ĐỀ XUẤT TÀI TRỢ

1. Về trang thiết bị:
- Máy thận số lượng 30 máy.
- Máy rửa quả lọc 05 cái.
- Hệ thống lọc nước RO công suất 40 máy.
- Quả lọc tinh khiết kèm theo máy thận 02 cái/máy.

2. Về chi phí điều trị cho người nghèo:
Mỗi năm khoảng 15-20 bệnh nhân cần lọc máu cấp cứu chưa có bảo hiểm y tế. Trong thời gian chờ mua và cấp BHYT mất thời gian 01 tháng, số tiền cần khoảng 1000 USD/bệnh/tháng, tổng kinh phí cho điều trị cần khoảng 50.000 USD/năm. Dự kiến hỗ trợ 2 mức như sau:
- Hỗ trợ 100% chi phí đối với người nghèo không có bảo hiểm y tế:
- Hỗ trợ hỗ trợ 20-50% chi phí đối với người nghèo.
3. Về nhu cầu đào tạo, tập huấn:
Mỗi năm tái đào tạo và đào tạo mới khoảng 05–10 nhân viên về chuyên môn, tập huấn, chuyển giao kỹ thuật mới trong điều trị.

IV. TÍNH CẦN THIẾT, HIỆU QUẢ:
Số bệnh nhân đều trị hàng năm khoảng 500 bệnh, hiệu quả là kéo dài thời gian đến giai đoạn thay thế thận ở bệnh nhân chưa lọc máu và kéo dài sự sống và chất lượng sống ở bệnh nhân điều trị thay thế thận. Về chuyên môn, các bác sỹ và kỹ thuật viên lọc máu tiếp cận chế độ điều trị mới để phục vụ bệnh nhân ngày một tốt hơn. Hàng năm có trên 20 lượt người người nghèo được hỗ trợ điều trị
