Giới chức giáo dục Maharashtra bắt đầu các cuộc kiểm tra từ tuần này để xác định liệu các trường có tuân thủ những quy định mới về trọng lượng cặp học sinh hay không.
Trước đó vào tháng 7, chính quyền bang đã quy định cặp học sinh không được nặng hơn 10% trọng lượng cơ thể của một trẻ em, và đã ban hành 44 khuyến nghị cho các trường nhằm giảm khối lượng sách vở mà các em phải mang đến trường mỗi ngày.
Các quan chức của bang tin rằng việc mang cặp quá nặng khiến học sinh mệt mỏi, đồng thời ảnh hưởng đến cột sống và các khớp xương của các em. Thời hạn chót để thực thi những thay đổi trên là ngày 30.11.
“Chúng tôi không thể gia hạn. Các nhóm chuyên trách của chúng tôi sẽ đến các trường để thu thập thông tin về trọng lượng cặp học sinh”, ông Mahavir Mane, quan chức phụ trách giáo dục tiểu học của bang Maharashtra
