Năm 2016, ngành thủy sản tập trung triển khai các nhiệm vụ theo định hướng, mục tiêu, nội dung của Chiến lược Phát triển ngành Thủy sản đến năm 2020; Quy hoạch tổng thể thủy sản đến năm 2020, định hướng đến năm 2030 và Đề án tái cơ cấu ngành thủy sản theo hướng nâng cao giá trị gia tăng và phát triển bền vững, cùng toàn ngành nông nghiệp và phát triển nông thôn thực hiện chủ đề “Năm vệ sinh an toàn thực phẩm nông nghiệp”.
