According to the statistics of the Association of Asian-Pacific coconut (APCC), the 1991 Vietnam have 333,000 ha of coconut produce 1200 million, in 2003 only 135,800 hectares (Almanac of Statistics 2003). This is an area of 153,000 hectares in 2004 (FAO). The reason of decrease in the area of coconut is because of low productivity (productivity by an average of 36-38/fruit trees/year), products from coconut tree monotony (mainly traditional products such as copra, coconut oil ... high-value, hard to consume), low price always precarious economic efficiency should of coconut trees with no fruit.
