Hiệu ứng đám đông là một trong những nguyên nhân làm cho hệ thống giáo dục hiện nay tạo áp lực cho chúng ta trong việc tiếp thu kiến thức.
Thường khi chúng ta nêu ra một ý kiến đúng, một quan điểm giống với hầu hết mọi người, họ cho đó là điều dĩ nhiên và không ai để ý đến. Trong khi, nếu chúng ta vô tình đưa ra một kết luận gì đó hơi sai lệch với đám đông thì xã hội sẽ chỉ nhìn chằm chằm vào điểm yếu đó của chúng ta. Họ khó chịu, chỉ trích, kiếm ra đủ thứ lí do trên đời để hạ thấp chúng ta. Điều duy nhất họ có thể nghĩ được đó là "Bạn sai rồi! Và chúng tôi có quyền chỉ trích bạn " . Chính vì điều này mà học sinh, sinh viên như chúng ta cảm thấy sợ mỗi khi sai, mỗi khi vấp ngã. Kết quả là chúng ta giấu sự thiếu kiến thức của mình, không để ai biết. Ví dụ như ở Việt Nam, môn văn học hầu như luôn theo một khuôn mẫu, rập khuôn. Nếu một học sinh trả lời hoặc có quan điểm khác khi làm bài thi, có thể sẽ bị cho là sai và ít điểm. Thậm chí khi học sinh nêu quan điểm với giáo viên, có thể học sinh còn bị giáo viên mắng, bạn bè xung quanh nhìn với con mắt kì dị. Vì vậy, nếu bạn là một người rụt rè, không có bản lĩnh, bạn sẽ ngồi im và không đưa ra chính kiến của mình, bạn sẽ giấu đi cả nhữung kiến thức mình biết cũng như là không biết. Điều này dẫn đến việc ngày càng nhiều người giấu sự thiếu hiểu biết của mình.

Tuy nhiên, nếu như đám đông nhận ra là mình sai và bạn đúng, bạn sẽ được tung hô và được tôn trọng hơn.
