Tổng sản phẩm trên địa bàn (GRDP) quý I/2016 đạt 221.816 tỷ đồng (giá hiện hành), tăng 7,1% so với quý I/2015 (trên cơ sở số GRDP sơ bộ cả năm 2014, 2015 do TCTK công bố , GRDP thành phố quý 1/2015 được tính tăng 6,9%).
Khu vực dịch vụ tăng 7,8%, đóng góp 4,37 điểm phần trăm trong mức tăng trưởng; khu vực công nghiệp và xây dựng tăng 6,25% (công nghiệp tăng 5,6%, xây dựng 11,5%), đóng góp 1,83 điểm phần trăm; khu vực nông lâm thủy tăng 5,8%, đóng góp 0,04 điểm phần tram. Khu vực nông, lâm, thủy sản 1.765 tỷđồng chiếm 0,8% và tăng 5,8% (quý I/2015 tăng 5,8%); khu vực công nghiệp - xây dựng 61.507 tỷđồng chiếm 27,7%, tăng 6,25% (quý I/2015 tăng 5,63%); khu vực dịch vụ127.969 tỷđồng, chiếm 57,7%, tăng 7,8% (quý I/2015 tăng 7,37 %). Trong đó: ngành vận tải tăng 15%, ngành thương mại tăng 7,82%, ngành khách sạn nhà hàng tăng 5,23%.
