Có nhiều phương pháp chi tiết hóa thống kê khác nhau như: SDSM, LARS-WG, WGEN…, được sử dụng để chuyển đổi thông tin từ các kết quả mô phỏng của mô hình hoàn lưu khí hậu toàn cầu (GCM) để dự báo các kịch bản khí hậu cho địa phương. Nghiên cứu này sử dụng công cụ LARS-WG để chi tiết hóa cho các thông số khí tượng: nhiệt độ cao nhất, nhiệt độ thấp nhất, và lượng mưa tại các trạm khí tượng và mưa trên lưu vực sông từ đó sử dụng bộ thông số hiệu chỉnh để xây dựng kịch bản biến đổi khí hậu cho lưu vực sông giúp các nhà quản lý có những hoạch định, khung chương trình thích hợp để ứng phó với biến đổi khí hậu trong tương lai tại lưu vực.
