Trường chính thức được Bộ Giáo dục cho phép tuyển sinh 05 ngành đào tạo Cao học, đánh dấu một bước phát triển quan trọng của Nhà trường. Hiện nay, quy mộ của trường là 18.000 học viên, sinh viên đang học tập và nghiên cứu ở 5 ngành sau đại học, 22 ngành đại học, 6 ngành cao đẳng thuộc các lĩnh vực kinh tế, kỹ thuật, khoa học tự nhiên, khoa học xã hội nhân văn và sư phạm.
• Đến năm 2018, hoàn thành kiểm định chất lượng giáo dục và đạt chuẩn AUN 20% số ngành đào tạo
• Đến năm 2020, được công nhận đại học ứng dụng
• Đến năm 2025, trở thành đại học nghiên cứu
Về quy mô đào tạo, đến năm 2020, Đại học Thủ Dầu Một phấn đấu xây dựng hệ thống đào tạo gồm 56 ngành đại học và sau đại học với quy mô trên 24.000 sinh viên, trở thành cơ sở đào tạo ngang tầm với các trường Đại học có uy tín trong nước, tiến tới tiếp cận chuẩn mực giáo dục đại học khu vực và thế giới
Về định hướng phát triển thành đại học nghiên cứu, trường Đại học Thủ Dầu Một đang tập trung hoàn thiện lộ trình xây dựng chương trình đào tạo theo chuẩn CDIO; triển khai các chương trình, đề án nghiên cứu toàn diện, quan trọng, làm nền tảng cho nhiều công trình nghiên cứu khác. Một trong những chương trình trọng điểm đang triển khai là Đề án nghiên cứu về Đông Nam Bộ.

SỨ MỆNH
Sứ mệnh của trường là đào tạo nguồn nhân lực chất lượng cao phục vụ cho quá trình phát triển kinh tế, xã hội của tỉnh Bình Dương, các tỉnh Đông Nam Bộ, vùng kinh tế trọng điểm phía Nam và cả nước; nghiên cứu khoa học, ứng dụng và chuyển giao khoa học công nghệ, cung ứng sản phẩm và dịch vụ cho thị trường.

VẤN ĐỀ CỦA TỔ CHỨC / UNIT / DEPT
Khoa Sư Phạm được thành lập cùng với sự ra đời của trường Đại học Thủ Dầu Một (24/06/2009). Sau 6 năm hoạt động bên cạnh những thành quả đạt được vẫn còn tồn tại nhiều vấn đề bất cập:
1/ Đội ngũ Giảng viên Khoa không đáp ứng hết nhu cầu giảng dạy của Khoa
Hiện tại Khoa có 61 Giảng viên với 75 lớp trực thuộc Khoa quản lý với gần 4000 sinh viên. Số lượng Giảng viên quá ít so với lượng sinh viên khá lớn. Vì vậy hiện tại Khoa phải hợp đồng thỉnh giảng với các giảng viên khoa khác,trường khác để đáp ứng tốt nhu cầu hiện có.
2/ Cơ sở vật chất không đủ để đảm bảo chất lượng cho việc dạy và học
Với những cơ sở vật chất kế thừa từ trường cũ là trường Cao đẳng Sư Phạm Bình Dương(1976-2009). Cơ sở vật chất của trường cũng như của Khoa đã xuống cấp trầm trọng không thể đáp ứng đầy đủ nhu cầu dạy và học. Với sự quan tâm của UBND Tỉnh Bình Dương trường đã được sự đầu tư tạm thời từ nguồn ngân sách của Tỉnh nhưng vẫn không đáp ứng được nhu cầu hiện có.
3/ Số lượng sinh viên ra trường không có việc làm khá nhiều
Do đặc thù của Khoa chỉ đào tạo 2 ngành Giáo dục Tiểu học và Giáo dục Mầm non. Hiện nay nhu cầu của xã hội về giáo viên của 2 ngành này gần như bảo hòa, mỗi năm chỉ có vài chục chỉ têu không đáng kể nên số lượng sinh viên thất nghiệp khá nhiều
