Tôi nghĩ rằng không cần thiết có một kì thi tuyển sinh riêng vào đại học hoặc cao đẳng. Chỉ cần dùng kết quả của kì thi tốt nghiệp phổ thông trung học để xét tuyển vào các trường đại học hoặc cao đẳng trên toàn quốc.
Với cách làm này sẽ tiết kiệm được rất nhiều thời gian, công sức và tiền bạc cho các thí sinh nói riêng và quốc gia nói chung. Nhà nước và các trường đại học không phải bỏ ra một khoản chi phí quá lớn mỗi năm để tổ chức hai kì thi mà dùng số tiền đó để góp phần nâng cao chất lượng giáo dục. Các thí sinh cũng không cần tốn quá nhiều chi phí cho việc ăn ở và di chuyển vì chỉ cần dự thi ở tại nơi mình sống cũng có đủ khả năng xét tuyển vào tất cả các đại học trên toàn quốc.
Thêm nữa, việc chỉ có duy nhất một kì thi chung sẽ giúp phân loại thí sinh dễ dàng. Năng lực của thí sinh sẽ được phân loại rõ ràng theo thang điểm và khả năng làm mất những sinh viên giỏi không còn nữa.
Hơn thế, không tổ chức kì thi tuyển sinh riêng vào đại học cũng chính là hòa nhập vào nền giáo dục trong khu vực và trên thế giới. Các nước trong khu vực châu á như trung quốc, hàn quốc, nhật bản, singapore… hay các nước khác trên thế giới như mỹ, anh, úc,... đều áp dụng cách tuyển sinh này và đều là những nước có các trường đại học thuộc hàng top những trường đại học tốt nhất trên thế giới.

Tuy nhiên, việc thay đổi một thói quen từ quá khứ để chuyển sang một cái mới là vấn đề hết sức khó khăn. Các trường đại học vẫn còn lo lắng cách tuyển sinh này sẽ gây "bất lợi" cho trường mình.
