Lâm Đồng có 12 đơn vị hành chính, trong đó có 1 thành phố Đà Lạt, 1 thị xã và 10 huyện. Thành phố Đà Lạt là trung tâm hành chính - kinh tế - xã hội của tỉnh; cách các trung tâm kinh tế lớn của vùng và khu vực không xa, hướng Nam cách thành phố Hồ Chí Minh 300 km, Biên Hoà 270 km, Vũng Tàu 340 km, hướng Đông cách cảng biển Nha Trang 210 km.
2. Đặc điểm địa hình
Lâm Đồng là tỉnh miền núi phía Nam Tây Nguyên có độ cao trung bình 800 – 1.000 m so với mặt nước biển, địa hình đa số là núi và cao nguyên, diện tích đất tự nhiên là 9.765 km2.
