Hiện nay đất nước ta đã và đang bước vào giai đoạn công nghiệp hóa – hiện đại hóa đất nước, hội nhập với cộng đồng quốc tế về kinh tế - chính trị, văn hóa. Vì vậy, thông thạo tiếng Anh là một nhu cầu rất cần thiết đối với bất kì ai, đặc biệt đối với các sinh viên Việt Nam - “những chủ nhân tương lai của đất nước”. Tuy nhiên, sinh viên học tiếng anh trong thời gian khá dài nhưng khả năng giao tiếp ngoại ngữ còn nhiều hạn chế và tỷ lệ đậu lần đầu trong khảo sát tiếng Anh đầu ra ở các trường chưa cao.
