Môi sinh đang ở trong tình trạng báo động, nói một cách khẩn thiết: thiên nhiên đang kêu cứu. Thảm họa hủy diệt đe dọa loài người.
Từ những thập kỉ cuối của thế kỉ 20, sự gia tăng dân số, việc khai thác tài nguyên một cách vô tổ chức, việc tăng nhanh quá trình đô thị hóa,công nghiệp hóa, hóa học hóa nông nghiệp,tác động to lớn của con người vào thiên nhiên từ nhiều mặt mang tính toàn cầu,trong đó có vấn đề chất thải,đã ảnh hưởng sâu sắc đến sinh quyển,đụng chạm đến mọi quốc gia vì quả đất là ngôi nhà chung của loài người.
Hậu quả là từ nửa cuối thế kỉ 20, sinh quyển đã trở nên tồi tệ rõ rệt. Ở một số nước và một số khu vực rộng lớn,tình trạng ô nhiễm đã thực sự là mối hiểm họa. Trách nhiệm này thuộc về các nước công nghiệp phát triển: các nước này đã gây ra 2/3 lượng ô nhiễm trên thế giới. Trong số đó,Mỹ gây ra 30%, các nước Tây Âu 20%.
Vấn đề môi sinh cần được giải quyết ở những quy mô khác nhau:trên quy mô thế giới,quy mô từng bước,quy mô từng ngành. Vấn đề này mang tính toàn cầu.
Vấn đề bảo vệ sinh thái bao gồm nhiều mặt:bảo vệ sức khỏe,phát triển kinh tế, giáo dục và nhiều vấn đề khác. Hướng giải quyết có thể như sau:
- Hướng thứ nhất:thay thế công nghệ sản xuất cổ truyền bằng các công nghệ sạch không có chất độc hại.
- Hướng thứ hai:kiểm soát và phân bổ hợp lý các ngành công nghiệp gây nhiễm bẩn nhất đối với môi sinh.
-Hướng thứ ba:phát minh các thiết bị lọc và tái sử dụng rác các loại.
Bảo vệ sinh quyển tức là bảo vệ cuộc sống của mỗi chúng ta.
