Theo Quyết định 493/về phân loại nợ, trích lập và sử dụng dự phòng để xử lý rủi ro tín dụng trong hoạt động Ngân hàng, thì nợ xấu là những khoản nợ được phân loại vào nhóm 3 (nợ dưới tiêu chuẩn), nhóm 4 (nợ nghi ngờ), nhóm 5 (nợ có khả năng mất vốn). Nợ xấu theo định nghĩa của Việt Nam cũng được xác định dựa theo 2 yếu tố: (i) đã quá hạn trên 90 ngày và (ii) không có khả năng trả nợ

Under Decision 493 / on loan classification, provisioning and use of provisions against credit risk in the Bank's operations, the bad loans are loans classified into group 3 (Substandard debt), group 4 (Doubtful), group 5 (potentially irrecoverable debt). Bad debt as defined by Vietnam are determined based on two factors: (i) have been overdue for more than 90 days and (ii) the inability to pay debts
