Ngày nay, chăn nuôi tập trung, công nghệ chế biến nông súc hải sản tập trung đang có xu hướng phát triển mạnh, nhất là quanh khu vực kinh tế trọng điểm. Nhiều cơ sở chăn nuôi lớn, các nhà máy chế biến nông sản, súc sản, hải sản quanh thành phố Hồ Chí Minh và các tỉnh phụ cận đã sử dụng các lọai nhựa dẻo như HDPE, FPP resins làm tấm bạt phủ trên hố chứa phân và nước thải (còn gọi là công nghệ CIGAR- Covered In-Ground Anaerobic Reactor) để thu biogas và giảm ô nhiễm môi trường. Kết quả cho thấy có rất nhiều triển vọng đặc biệt cho các trang trại với số đầu gia súc lớn (hàng ngàn con), các nhà máy chế biến có lượng nước thải hàng ngàn khối. Các lọai nhựa này có tuổi thọ và độ bền cao (10-15 năm), mặc dù đầu tư tốn kém, nhưng giá thành tính trên đơn vị thể tích hố ga thì lại rất rẻ.
