Rừng nhiệt đới là nguồn tài nguyên có giá trị lớn,là nơi giúp duy trì đa dạng sinh học và là lá phổi xanh của Trái đất. Những vùng ở Phi Châu, Trung và Nam Mỹ Châu, và Đông Nam Á thì dày đặc với sự sống màu lá cây, những côn trùng lạ thường, những loài chim đầy màu sắc, và những loài động vật kỳ lạ. Sự sống ở mọi nơi, bắt đầu ,lớn mạnh, chết đi, và bắt đầu sự sống. Thực vật phong phú của rừng nhiệt đới giữ gìn nhiều chủng loại khác nhau vào bậc nhất trên trái đất.
