Công nghệ thông tin đang phát triển trong đó có điện thoại, điện thoại được ra đời vào ngày 10 tháng 3 năm 1867 bởi nhà phát minh Alexander Graham Bell và người trợ lí của ông và là sự kiện đánh mốc sự ra đời của chiếc điện thoại liên lạc.
Năm 1967, chiếc điện thoại được coi là "di động" đầu tiên trình làng với tên gọi Carry Phone, rất cồng kềnh cho việc di chuyển vì nó nặng đến 4,5 kg.
Ngày 3 tháng 4 năm 1973 điện thoại di động chính thức ra đời và nó nặng 1 kg và mang tên Motorola Dyna Tac, phát minh bởi nhà sáng chế John F. Mitchell và Martin Cooper.
