Khi chúng ta học phổ thông, chúng ta phải trai qua một thời gian rất dài. Nhưng kiến thức chỉ tóm gọn trong một phạm vi nào đó. Nhưng trong tương lai chúng ta phải có nghề nghiệp nên chúng ta phải học đại học. Vậy giữa hai vấn đề này có gì khác nhau?
Giáo dục phổ thông
Giáo dục phổ thông chính chủ yếu là việc khơi dậy những tri thức, kỹ năng cơ bản, cần thiết, sát thực nhất để học sinh có thể áp dụng vào cuộc sống, nhằm thích nghi và hòa nhập tốt với xã hội.
Giáo dục mầm non hay giáo dục tuổi ấu thơ là việc giáo dục trong những năm tháng đầu đời, một trong những giai đoạn học hỏi, tiếp thụ nhiều nhất trong cuộc đời. Giai đoạn này dạy cho trẻ biết các quy ước trong cuộc sống, các kỹ năng cơ bản thông qua các trò chơi.
Giáo dục cơ sở là việc dạy cho các em những kiến thức cơ bản như đọc viết, tính toán, tri thức về tự nhiên và xã hội.
Giáo dục trung học là việc giáo dục cho học sinh nâng cao những kiến thức của mình và học tập các kỹ năng sống, kỹ năng nghề nghiệp cơ bản.

Giáo dục đại học, còn gọi là giáo dục bậc 3, giai đoạn ba hay là sau phổ thông, thường được gọi như là hàn lâm, là một bậc giáo dục không bắt buộc.Giáo dục đại học là khơi dậy và nuôi dưỡng tính ham học hỏi của sinh viên, hơn là truyền đạt kiến thức. Vì vậy, thời gian lên lớp của thầy cô chủ yếu là giải đáp các thắc mắc và hướng dẫn các tài liệu, các phần nên đọc trong học phần của môn học. Cần chú ý, vẫn biết cách học ở ĐH chủ yếu là tự học, tự tìm tài liệu, nhưng với số lượng tài liệu vô cùng lớn, khó mà SV có thể tự mò mẫm chính xác tài liệu thích hợp cho môn học. Vì vậy, cần có sự hướng dẫn của thầy cô trong việc học của SV.
