In nearly 20 years of Doi Moi, Vietnam has gained quite convincing achievements in economics and society. Economic growth rate averaged 7.3% in the period 1990-2004, real per capita GDP growth averaged 5.7% annually, and the poverty rate fell from nearly 80% in 1986 to 24% in 2004. For more than a decade, Vietnam has always been classified as countries with high growth rates, with achievements and rapid poverty reduction in the world. Achievements on this is a good sign of economic transition and is the result of policies that Vietnam has been made before the rapid changes of the world economy, especially the trend of the whole chemical structure. Since the late 80s, Vietnam has implemented the policy of economic integration, beginning with the adoption of the Law on Foreign Investment in 1987, proceed with the signing of bilateral trade agreements and multilateral, near most recently Vietnam Bilateral trade Agreement with the US. Vietnam has become a member of ASEAN since 1995, APEC since 1998, participated in Economic Forum Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2001 and is preparing to join the WTO.
