Khi rung hoặc ép tường cừ chế tạo sẵn thì bề mặt đất có xu hướng nâng lên và đất bị đẩy ra xa. Ngược lại, khi thi công cọc khoan nhồi hoặc barrette thì bề mặt đất xung quanh bị lún xuống và đất dịch chuyển ngang hướng về vị trí khoan tạo lỗ.
