Thị trấn Dầu Tiếng là trung tâm hành chính, kinh tế, văn hóa, chính trị của huyện Dầu Tiếng, cùng với sự phát triển của cả nước nền kinh tế ở thị trấn ngày càng tăng lên, mức sống của người dân ngày nâng cao, Song song với đó nhiều vấn đề môi trường đã nảy sinh liên quan đến các hoạt động của con người, trong đó chất thải rắn sinh hoạt là một vấn đề lớn cần quan tâm và giải quyết. Nghiên cứu này khảo sát hiện trạng rác thải, tình hình quản lý rác thải sinh hoạt, hiện trạng rác tái chế và tình hình thu gom rác tái chế từ rác thải sinh hoạt trên địa bàn thị trấn Dầu Tiếng, từ đó đánh giá hiệu suất thu gom rác tái chế, tính toán lượng rác tái chế thất thoát, thiệt hại kinh tế từ sự thất thoát này và đề ra các giải pháp quản lý hiệu quả nguồn rác tái chế.
Kết quả cho thấy, hiệu suất thu hồi rác tái chế ở thị trấn Dầu Tiếng khá cao. Do người dân tận dụng rác để bán ve chai, tuy nhiên vẫn còn một số lượng rác tái chế thất thoát do một số hộ dận không tận dụng rác để bán ve chai hoặc không tận dụng triệt để. Tình hình thu gom rác thải sinh hoạt chưa cao, một số hộ dân không đăng ký thu gom rác mà thải rác ra ngoài tự nhiên gây ô nhiễm môi trường.
