Để đáp ứng yêu cầu đổi mới giáo dục trong thời kì công nghiệp hóa, hiện đại hóa và hội nhập quốc tế, con đường cơ bản để nâng cao chất lượng đào tạo ở trường đại học là đổi mới phương pháp dạy học. Tuy nhiên, phương pháp giáo dục đại học ở nước ta hiện nay đang còn nhiều hạn chế bởi việc hình thành kỹ năng xã hội và việc giáo dục ý thức chính trị cho sinh viên trong giáo dục hội nhập chưa được định hình một cách cụ thể. Về bộ môn giáo dục công dân hiện nay đang được nhà nước và xã hội đặc biệt quan tâm. Vấn đề dạy học như thế nào? Phương pháp nào? Đang là một dấu hỏi lớn cần giải đáp của giảng viên bộ môn phương pháp dạy học giáo dục công dân nhằm hướng đến một môn học cần thiết nhất, là môn học không thể thiếu trong hệ thống giáo dục Việt Nam. Trên cơ sở chương trình môn giáo dục công dân hiện hành, giảng viên bộ môn phương pháp đưa ra một vài ý kiến trao đổi về chuyên môn nhằm hoàn thiện hơn công tác dạy và học.
