Ý tưởng thiết kế Bitexco Financial Tower được lấy cảm hứng từ hình ảnh duyên dáng, thanh thoát của búp hoa sen, biểu tượng của văn hóa Việt Nam. Tòa nhà được xem là biểu tượng cho sự năng động của Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh trong thời kỳ hội nhập kinh tế.
