Cuba-pilot brought the Internet to households in La HabanaState telecoms company ETECSA, Cuba on October 25 announced it will put on the pilot program to provide Internet services to households later this year.Cuban news agency Internet family will provide network connectivity for approximately 2,000 users living in the old quarter of the capital Havana.Director of marketing and information of ETECSA, says Eudes Monier, said households in the pilot area has been connected to the Internet and phone networks of the company and the necessary infrastructure was complete.However, ETECSA have yet to set the speed of the line.Besides, ETECSA also plans to provide wireless network for mobile devices in 2017.Currently, only about 5% of the Cuban population have Internet connection at home, the majority include scholars, doctors or journalists. The Internet connection at home needs to have a license of the State functions. Cuba said the regulations by limits on the country's infrastructure.
