Bạch tuộc là loài động vật săn đêm, thức ăn ưa thích của chúng là cua, nhuyễn thể và tôm càng . Bạch tuộc cái có thể đẻ tới 150.000 trứng trong hai tuần. Con cái sẽ không kiếm mồi mà chỉ tập trung vào việc bảo vệ trứng của mình. Điều đó khiến những con bạch tuộc con sau khi sinh ra sẽ mất mẹ bởi mẹ chúng bị chết vì thiếu dưỡng chất và đói trong một thời gian dài.
