Chiến tranh nhân dân là chiến tranh chính nghĩa nên huy động được đông đảo quần chúng nhân dân, với sự tham gia của toàn dân, vì đó là lợi ích sống còn của chính quần chúng nhân dân.
Bạo lực cách mạng là phương pháp tiến hành cách mạng bằng bạo lực để giành chính quyền, nhằm lật đổ một chế độ chính trị hoặc đánh đổ một thế lực thù địch nước ngoài, giành lại chính quyền. Bạo lực cách mạng được thực hiện bằng hình thức vũ trang hay chính trị. Còn bạo lực cách mạng tổng hợp là phương pháp tiến hành cách mạng cũng bằng bạo lực để đánh thắng kẻ địch, được kết hợp bằng nhiều hình thức.
