Tại buổi Hội nghị Đoàn Chủ tịch và Hội nghị UBTƯ Hội DN Trẻ Việt tại Đồng Tháp đầu năm 2016 , đề xuất về việc tổ chức Diễn đàn Kinh tế Tư nhân (VPSF, Diễn đàn) đã được đưa ra thảo luận và được thông qua. Ngay sau đó, công tác chuẩn bị cho Diễn đàn chính thức được giao cho ban tổ chức và đã nhận được sự quan tâm đông đảo của cộng đồng doanh nhân trẻ cũng như doanh nghiệp cả nước. Ngoài ra, Diễn đàn còn nhận được sự ủng hộ từ phía ADB (Ngân hàng Phát triển Châu Á), đơn vị cam kết hỗ trợ và đồng hành cùng Diễn đàn, nhằm ủng hộ sự phát triển của doanh nghiệp tư nhân Việt Nam.

Shortly after, the preparation work for the Forum was officially delivered to the Organizing Committee and have received the attention of the community of young entrepreneurs as well as entrepreneurs all over the country. In addition, the Forum also received the support from the ADB (Asian Development Bank), the unit is committed to supporting and accompanying Forum, which aims to support the development of private enterprises in Vietnam.
