Ngày nay xã hội ngày càng phát triển, tiến bộ hơn văn minh hơn. Hầu hết ai cũng biết sử dụng internet. Internet có thuận lợi nhưng cũng có bất lợi.
Trước hết là thuận lợi. Rất nhiều lĩnh vực kinh tế, xã hội sử dụng Internet như giáo dục, y tế, thương mại, ngoại giao,… Không những vậy, Internet còn chứa đựng cả một kho kiến thức khổng lồ nữa. Đặc biệt hơn hết, khi muốn tìm một thông tin nào đó thì ta có thể vào trang GOOGLE nhập từ khóa cần tìm và Enter. Bên cạnh đó, Internet cũng hình thành ra các ứng dụng, các trang mạng xã hội như Yahoo, Facebook, Blog, Twitter, Skype,…. Chúng ta có thể sử dụng các trang mạng ấy để học hỏi thêm những điều xung quanh mình, giao lưu kết bạn với những người bạn phương xa, xem các chương trình giải trí,… Đồng thời ta cũng có thể học trực tiếp trên mạng. Việc học này giúp cho những người ham học hỏi nhưng lại không có thời gian học trực tiếp ở ngoài các trung tâm. Nhưng song song với những lợi ích nêu trên, Internet vẫn tồn tại những mặt hại do một số bộ phận xấu gây ra. Chúng có thể ăn bị cắp dữ liệu, làm rò rỉ thông tin. Game trực tuyến là một dạng của nghiện Internet. Học sinh, sinh viên nghiện game online có những biểu hiện như xanh xao do thiếu ngủ, học lực yếu, sức khỏe kém, …và nhiều em còn có hành vi bạo lực khi bắt chước các trò chơi trong game. Vì vậy, mọi người sử dụng Internet cần tiếp thu thông tin có chọn lọc và cảnh giác trước những thông tin xấu.
Qua những lợi ích và tác hại của Internet nêu trên, ta nhận thấy một điều rằng nếu ta sử dụng đúng cách, có chọn lọc và có những biện pháp ngăn chặn những chương trình phá hoại thì Internet thật là tuyệt vời. Bên cạnh đó mọi người cần nâng cao nhận thức đúng đắn về Internet ngay cả người cung cấp dịch vụ và người sử dụng để Internet được phát triển và sử dụng hiệu quả, phục vụ cho tăng trưởng kinh tế xã hội và đời sống nhân dân.
