Khách sạn Caravelle được khai trươn

Khách sạn Caravelle được khai trương vào mùa Giáng Sinh năm 1959 và đã trở thành nơi tổ chức các buổi họp mặt, gặp gỡ thân mật, tiệc dạ vũ sang trọng hàng đầu tại thành phố Hồ Chí Minh. Kể từ đó, khách sạn là nơi thường xuyên chào đón các chức sắc quan trọng, giới chính trị gia và các nhân vật có danh tiếng.

Năm 1975, khi miền Nam hoàn toàn giải phóng, khách sạn Caravelle đổi tên là khách sạn Độc Lập. Đến giữa thập niên 1990, khách sạn tạm ngưng hoạt động để xây dựng thêm tòa nhà mới 24 tầng bên cạnh toà nhà cũ 9 tầng. Khách sạn Caravelle đi vào hoạt động trở lại vào ngày 8 tháng 5 năm 1998.

Bar Saigon Saigon được bầu chọn là “quán bar tầng thượng nổi tiếng nhất Sài Gòn” và nằm trong Top 10 Địa điểm giải trí thú vị của thành phố, trong chương trình “TPHCM 100 Điều thú vị” do Sở Văn Hóa Thể Thao & Du Lịch trao tặng - mở cửa từ năm 1959 và hiện nay vẫn tọa lạc tại tầng 10 của tòa nhà cũ của khách sạn và vẫn giữ nguyên nét đặc trưng nguyên thủy của nó đến ngày nay.
